John Hancock: Power Grab

July 16

“Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual… continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.”  John Hancock

So many things stir me. But when I think about the fact that God’s Word says that I “WILL” be filled with His holy Spirit, how can I NOT be stirred?

I am especially grateful for this Truth, though what I will do with it remains to be seen. Indeed, falling so short so often is irreconcilable to this human nature holding me back so often. Yet, when I break free from the grip of logical reasoning, I am found to be enlightened by the knowledge of God’s Glory and His Power within me.

Grab hold of the cross. Seize the Holy Spirit’s Power inside you and DO something! How lazy is the Believer, more inclined to be fervent in spiritual apathy then in fervent prayer or belief that this power actually exists… not only in and of itself, but fully within us. Do not allow the Power of God’s Spirit to remain dormant today. Activate it at once and find the source of strength and energy to do everything you are capable of, through Him. When in the grip of depression or doubt, grip the cross of Christ and arise with Him. Peace, Sean G.

Today’s Scripture: Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
