“If we are in love with our Lord, obedience does not cost us anything… it is a delight.” ~ Oswald Chambers
I don’t really understand the way my own mind works sometimes. What makes us happy are simple illusions born from the deceptive nature of our hearts. We become so distracted by what we are told we want and buy into the emotion of what we believe we need that we cease searching for what we really need. Lost in all of our thinking and feeling is the most important voice of all… God’s voice.
We cannot escape God’s voice for long. When He speaks we should listen. And when He directs US to speak for Him, we shouldn’t keep silent. It’s never difficult to speak for God until He brings us to the place where it might actually cost us something… then we have a decision to make. But what about when He speaks to us about ourselves? Are we prepared to listen intently?
I think one reason why I tune that voice out is because I don’t really want to know what God wants to speak to me. I fear God’s voice. I also fear that I may NOT have the courage to be God’s voice for the message He’s asked me to deliver. Despite my fear, I seek to continue forcing my heart to stop and heed The Lord’s words for I know that whatever he needs to say, it must be important and… it must be good for my heart and soul to hear. As for whatever messages He would have me deliver, well… I can trust the Holy Spirit to put the right words in my mouth and then know in gratitude that my privilege is not ONLY His Calling… but His Words, as well. What Joy I will surely find in my obedience to God, as my fear turns to delight as I listen and follow His voice!

Today’s Scripture: Esther 4:14
For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
