Oswald Chambers: A Quiet Focus

August 17

When you are in the dark, listen, and God will give you a very precious message. ~ Oswald Chambers

Capture every thought today. When your mind wanders… let it wander to The Lord and know peace. I must intentionally clear out the clutter and chase away chatter so that I will hear God’s voice. Once that static noise has been removed, I no longer have to strain to hear Him clearly.

When I find a quiet place where my mind can finally begin to slow and my heart is allowed to settle on the whisperings of The Lord the clarity that accompanies the fresh quietness also brings a certain rest and peace for my soul. The quiet focus of the road helps me think. I often fill up my car with gas, get a large coke, hop in my car and drive. It’s a great way to escape the clutter and chaos that so often overtakes my mind and thoughts. This setting levels the battlefield in my mind and now I can capture those thoughts that wander. I can push them towards The Lord. My prayers become more focus and searching on Him. Find your setting where you can capture your thoughts, where your prayers can be uninterrupted, then go there and get busy… get busy talking with God.

Peace, Sean Gutteridge

Today’s Scripture: Nehemiah 1:11 and 2:8

11:1 O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant, and to the prayer of your servants who delight to fear your name, and give success to your servant today, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.”

2:8 And the king granted me what I asked, for the good hand of my God was upon me.
