“Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is.” ~ Francis Bacon
It’s not a bad thing to be humbled by The Lord… unless you don’t see it coming. Then, well… it can be a little painful. I gotta try to laugh at me every day. (It’s really not that hard, to be honest.)
Really, I don’t mind being in a humbled state. It takes so much pressure off me, you know? As a worship pastor there is a fine line between serving in the confidence I’m afforded in Christ and the humility needed to be low enough so that only the Glory and Righteousness of Christ will be seen. There can be none of me present, beyond what I’ve been asked by God to do so that others will see HIM. I don’t take offense to this, I really don’t. I understand that apart from Christ all that I offer in talent and wisdom is mere foolishness compared to the Glory of The Lord.
Don’t resist this state of humility. Instead, relish the thought of being humbled and you will find that it’s not in the least bit painful. Just the opposite, it’s one of the most satisfying places to be. And still I find… I can laugh down here!
Peace, today! Sean G.
Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 5:15-16
15 Man is humbled, and each one is brought low, and the eyes of the haughty are brought low.
16 But the LORD of hosts is exalted in justice, and the Holy God shows himself holy in righteousness.
