Is my worship a stench or an aroma? It isn’t necessary to be fit properly for worship but certainly my heart should be positioned such as to not be completely wretched before The Lord before I enter His gates to praise Him. Is my heart somewhat prepared to receive Him in His Glory?
God certainly wants me to come as I am but I will get so much more within His presence if I will steady my soul and prepare it to wait for Him. I want the worship experience to be communal and NOT strictly a cleaning and renewal. Worship takes on many forms, has many purposes and will yield varying results according to God’s Will but – and I’ve learned this over the years while leading worship – that the power and beauty of God’s Holiness is more fully demonstrated and useful to my heart when I’m prepared spiritually beforehand. In quiet solitude, I’ve already begun focusing on God’s presence. I’m already asking for the Holy Spirit to move deep within me and I am diligently searching Christ to speak to my corrupted heart.
There are no rules nor any formula. Worship can be whatever The Lord wishes it to be. It can be spontaneous or well thought out, but prepare the heart and you won’t be able to miss even a hint of the fragrance of God’s majesty.

1 As soon as Solomon finished his prayer, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.
2 And the priests could not enter the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD filled the LORD’s house.
3 When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of the LORD on the temple, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, “For he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
